PRACTICES
Practices begin the second week of November
Regular practices are at the Poland Town Hall.
We may have a few longer practices during the competition season that happen at PCS.
Season runs November - April

This program requires all it's participants to be present at ALL practices in order for the routines to be a success. If your child is ill; you must call the coach to inform them of their absence. Stunting and formation makes this sport difficult to function without all team members. We have a strict attendance policy for Competition Cheering. Three or more unexcused absences can result in being removed from the team without a refund.

ASSESSMENTS

2nd, 4th and 6th graders with prior competitive cheering experience can request to be assessed to be considered to move up.
Note: 2nd, 4th and 6th graders who are assessed will only move up to the next division if (1) there is room and (2) ability wise,  they are ready.

CHEERING LEVELS
Mini Knights:
Grades PreK & K - Rising Star Division
Mighty Knights:
Grades 1 & 2 - Rising Star Division
Royal:
Grades (2), 3 & 4 - Shooting Star Division
Regal:
Grades (4), 5 & 6 - Shining Star Division
Varsity Knights:
Grades (6), 7 & 8 - Superstar Division

Dependent on the number of participants we may need to combine levels to make a team or teams. FYI: Cheering is a physically challenging sport which requires lifting other participants, tumbling and constant movement. You may want to consider consulting a physician prior to participation.
We do require conditioning as part of our program to safely be able to perform the routines and stunting procedures. Conditioning outside of practice times are strongly encouraged. Failure to participate in conditioning can result in your child not be allowed to be assigned to a stunt group.

COACHES

Our coaches are selected yearly and are volunteer positions. If you have prior cheering experience and are interested in becoming a Competition Cheering coach, please reach out to the Cheer Director at: vharlow@polandtownoffice.org
Coaches are required to attend the pre-season meeting in September and the post-season meeting in April.
As a coach, if you also have a child participating in our program, your child's registration fee is waived.

FUNDRAISING
We have several ways in which we raise money for our cheer program to help offset the cost of registrations. Participation from parents is required. If a family chooses not to help during one of our events in some fashion, a $25 in lieu of fundraiser fee will be applied to their account at the end of the season in April. This fee will need to be paid before registering for future programming with the Rec Dept.

Ways in which we fundraise are:
Father/Daughter Ball
Spirit Invitational

Ways parents can help:
Volunteer to prepare food or donate food
Setup for either event
Cleanup for either event
Volunteering for certain duties at either event (serving food, admission, etc.)
Moving cheer mats to and from events

Regal & Varsity Knights
We will be having an additional fundraiser for Regal & Varsity Knights to help with the cost of a choreographer. Details of the fundraiser will be shared during the first few practices.
