First Lego League
First Lego League

We are going into year two...

Looking for Kids with interest in lego robotics to form teams! (Ages 9-14) The plan is for at least 1 team of 10. If there is more interest, we will look into making an additional team as long as we can find additional coaches.   

Eligibility:  Age 9 by January 1, 2019

Research a real-world problem, develop a solution, design, build, and program a robot and compete on a table-top playing field with chances to compete at regional, state, national, and even world competitions!

Schedule:
July:  Parent/participant overview-Must be present (@ Town Hall)
August 1:  Challenge release
August:  3 Participant classes (@ PCS classroom TBD)
Fall Session: September thru December (Depending on how far to team makes it) (@ PCS classroom TBD)

Mission: 
To inspire young people to pursue careers in science and technology, by engaging them in a team oriented extra-curricular program where they will develop leadership skills and learn about engineering, mathematics, programming and project management in a fun and creative way.

Participant Commitment:
-Read and learn the challenge
-Weekly homework assignments-part of the challenge; doing research; brainstorming ideas, etc...
-Being part of a team, maintaining core values;
-It is important for participants to understand the commitment they are making is to a team; to fully participate; to be engaged; willing to contribute ideas and learning to compromise; and we want participants to enjoy what they are doing!

Do you love Lego’s or Robots and want to volunteer in your community?
 
Great opportunity is available for coaching or assisting with the Lego robotics league in RSU 16!
 
-We need more assistance in order to have more kids be able to participate, league rules dictate 10 on a competition team.
 
Time- Meetings are held Wednesdays 2:15-5pm during school year two meetings in July and three in August as the world wide challenge is released August 1st. ( Including coach meeting, parent / child information night and team building meeting) 1st event is in October. If teams move on to states event is in December.

What is needed?-Familiarize yourself with FIRST LEGO LEAGUE and read challenge guide documents to be able to guide kids through processes of projects and robot missions. Meeting plans are provided but are flexible to the children's need and ideas.
