5:30 PM - 7:00 PM	Basketball Clinic - Spring 2024 - Monday Night Knights Basketball LLABBThe Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program aims to improve all aspects of every player’s game.The beginner’s program is geared toward 3rd and 4th grade players and is structured to teach and/or reinforce the fundamentals of basketball with all participants.A heavy focus will be placed on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork as this serves as the foundation of higher basketball development.Basic defensive skills are also introduced here and will include proper on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter.The intermediate level program for our players in 5th grade or higher will still have a heavy focus on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork, but will expand to include the larger, conceptual ideas of player spacing, player movement and ballmovement that are critical to successful offensive basketball.These are skills that players will need to compete at the middle and high school levels. The defensive skills of on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter will be expanded upon here and we will start to introduce the conceptsof “help & recover”, defensive rotations, boxing out & rebounding and transition defense.Specific skills and actions covered will include:- Shooting form- Shooting balance- Engaging hips to produce power in your shot- Shooting footwork and coordination- Developing quickness- Developing explosiveness- Changing speeds- Changing directions- Finishing at the rimWorkouts/sessions will include:- Live ball moves- Ball screen reads vs ball screen coverages- Shooting off screens- Operating in the mid-range- Playing out of triple threat- Driving off the catch- Getting game shots from game spots- Game passing matrix- Ball handling matrixThe goal of the Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program is to teach players winning basketball in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. COST (Thursday date is included in cost) = $45There will be 2 sessions per week offered for each grade group. Restrooms are located in the lobby area. Athletes will also need to change in the lobby bathrooms if needed. All other rooms and spaces outside the gym are off limits. Children need to be under supervision at all times and are not allowed to wander the halls or other spaces within PCS. We have to request to use the school spaces. Any misuse of school property can result in the Recreation Dept. loosing access to these spaces. We ask that you please bring out what you bring in. Any trash needs to be put in trash receptacles.

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM	Adult Intro to Pickleball - April 24th ADULT INTRODUCTION TO PICKLEBALLWe wanted to offer a night for adults in our community to learn and experience Pickleball.WHEN: Wednesdays (Starting March 13th)If we have enough interest, we will keep offering sessions weekly until June 12thTIMES: 6:00-8:00PMLOCATION: Poland Community School GymCOST: $2 per session, paid at the doorPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED - See belowNo need to bring your own equipment. We will have balls and paddles available Over the past couple of years, Pickleball has become the fastest-growing sport among people of all ages.  It’s a combination of Tennis, Ping-Pong and Badminton that originated in 1965. This sport can be played indoors or outdoors on a pickleball court where two players (singles) or four players (doubles) hit a perforated hollow plastic wiffle- like ball over a 36-inch-high net using solid-faced paddles. It is a fun, low-impact game that keeps people healthy and active.In Pickleball, the plastic ball is less bouncy and doesn’t fly as fast through the air. And the paddle is much easier to handle because it’s shorter and lighter than a tennis racket.” You also serve underhand in Pickleball, and underhand serves are easier to hit and return.In the surrounding communities there are well over 300 adult Pickleball enthusiasts.  In order to participate you will have to sign up through your Poland Rec account.  If you do not have an account, then you will need to set up an account through www.PolandRec.comWe are going to limit the sessions to no more than 20 adults.  Each Thursday, we will open up the following Wednesday’s registration.  You can keep registering for these sessions each week and we will also share other Pickleball opportunities that are out there.   If you have to cancel, please cancel in your account or let us know and we will cancel for you, so we can offer folks on a possible waitlist.We have 3 courts.  If we have larger numbers we will play doubles and smaller numbers we will play singles.  We typically rotate, so there will be a breaktime when players rotate out.Cost:  $2.00 per night (paid at the door)You will be asked to sign a waiver form (one time only) at the gym and sign in and pay weekly. Coordinator:  Scott SegalAt times we will have some experienced Pickleball players that will help out.

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM	Basketball Clinic - Spring 2024 - Tuesday Night Knights Basketball LLABBThe Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program aims to improve all aspects of every player’s game.The beginner’s program is geared toward 3rd and 4th grade players and is structured to teach and/or reinforce the fundamentals of basketball with all participants.A heavy focus will be placed on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork as this serves as the foundation of higher basketball development.Basic defensive skills are also introduced here and will include proper on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter.The intermediate level program for our players in 5th grade or higher will still have a heavy focus on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork, but will expand to include the larger, conceptual ideas of player spacing, player movement and ballmovement that are critical to successful offensive basketball.These are skills that players will need to compete at the middle and high school levels. Any misuse of school property can result in the Recreation Dept. loosing access to these spaces. We ask that you please bring out what you bring in. Any trash needs to be put in trash receptacles.

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM	Adult Intro to Pickleball - May 1st ADULT INTRODUCTION TO PICKLEBALLWe wanted to offer a night for adults in our community to learn and experience Pickleball.WHEN: Wednesdays (Starting March 13th)If we have enough interest, we will keep offering sessions weekly until June 12thTIMES: 6:00-8:00PMLOCATION: Poland Community School GymCOST: $2 per session, paid at the doorPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED - See belowNo need to bring your own equipment. We will have balls and paddles available Over the past couple of years, Pickleball has become the fastest-growing sport among people of all ages.  It’s a combination of Tennis, Ping-Pong and Badminton that originated in 1965. This sport can be played indoors or outdoors on a pickleball court where two players (singles) or four players (doubles) hit a perforated hollow plastic wiffle- like ball over a 36-inch-high net using solid-faced paddles. It is a fun, low-impact game that keeps people healthy and active.In Pickleball, the plastic ball is less bouncy and doesn’t fly as fast through the air. And the paddle is much easier to handle because it’s shorter and lighter than a tennis racket.” You also serve underhand in Pickleball, and underhand serves are easier to hit and return.In the surrounding communities there are well over 300 adult Pickleball enthusiasts.  In order to participate you will have to sign up through your Poland Rec account.  If you do not have an account, then you will need to set up an account through www.PolandRec.comWe are going to limit the sessions to no more than 20 adults.  Each Thursday, we will open up the following Wednesday’s registration.  You can keep registering for these sessions each week and we will also share other Pickleball opportunities that are out there.   If you have to cancel, please cancel in your account or let us know and we will cancel for you, so we can offer folks on a possible waitlist.We have 3 courts.  If we have larger numbers we will play doubles and smaller numbers we will play singles.  We typically rotate, so there will be a breaktime when players rotate out.Cost:  $2.00 per night (paid at the door)You will be asked to sign a waiver form (one time only) at the gym and sign in and pay weekly. Coordinator:  Scott SegalAt times we will have some experienced Pickleball players that will help out.

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM	Basketball Clinic - Spring 2024 - Monday Night Knights Basketball LLABBThe Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program aims to improve all aspects of every player’s game.The beginner’s program is geared toward 3rd and 4th grade players and is structured to teach and/or reinforce the fundamentals of basketball with all participants.A heavy focus will be placed on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork as this serves as the foundation of higher basketball development.Basic defensive skills are also introduced here and will include proper on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter.The intermediate level program for our players in 5th grade or higher will still have a heavy focus on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork, but will expand to include the larger, conceptual ideas of player spacing, player movement and ballmovement that are critical to successful offensive basketball.These are skills that players will need to compete at the middle and high school levels. The defensive skills of on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter will be expanded upon here and we will start to introduce the conceptsof “help & recover”, defensive rotations, boxing out & rebounding and transition defense.Specific skills and actions covered will include:- Shooting form- Shooting balance- Engaging hips to produce power in your shot- Shooting footwork and coordination- Developing quickness- Developing explosiveness- Changing speeds- Changing directions- Finishing at the rimWorkouts/sessions will include:- Live ball moves- Ball screen reads vs ball screen coverages- Shooting off screens- Operating in the mid-range- Playing out of triple threat- Driving off the catch- Getting game shots from game spots- Game passing matrix- Ball handling matrixThe goal of the Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program is to teach players winning basketball in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. COST (Thursday date is included in cost) = $45There will be 2 sessions per week offered for each grade group. Restrooms are located in the lobby area. Athletes will also need to change in the lobby bathrooms if needed. All other rooms and spaces outside the gym are off limits. Children need to be under supervision at all times and are not allowed to wander the halls or other spaces within PCS. We have to request to use the school spaces. Any misuse of school property can result in the Recreation Dept. loosing access to these spaces. We ask that you please bring out what you bring in. Any trash needs to be put in trash receptacles.
