Global Art Adventure - Spring 2024 - Grades 1-3 Global Art Adventure - Spring 2024Ni Hao, Hola, Greetings, Hello & Welcome! Susan is excited to return to PCS for another Uniquely Creative and Fun Global Art Adventure Program!Art classes are for grades 1-6, broken up as follows: 1st-3rd (6 week session)4th-6th (7 week session) GRADES 1-3We will travel on an amazing journey, learn about different countries, cultures, festivals, artists, and create amazing Art Creations. Children will paint, collage, stencil, build, weave, and print. Projects may include-3D Robot Sculpture, World Wildlife Day Art, Mardi Gras Masks, Native American Dream Catcher, Wayne Thiebaud 3 D Dreamy Deserts, and more! Explore lots of different materials, techniques and learn new skills. New Adventures & New Art will be created each session. Discover the world one art adventure at a time! A partial refund may be considered if extenuating family circumstances arise. Art Club will be cancelled when school is closed, or after school activities are cancelled. ART CLUB RULESArt Club Rules are in place so everyone has the opportunity to have fun, use lots of different materials, learn new techniques, be creative and enjoy the project instruction for that day, free from distraction.- Please use appropriate language and have respectful behavior in class towards other students, teacher, and art materials.- Please clean up your area when finished with your project. When finished, you may free draw or work on another small project with left over materials if time.- No texting or using phones, during class unless in an emergency or givenpermission.- For safety at dismissal time, let’s all please leave the room together as a group.ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORSusan Bevil, creator of Little Artists is a passionate, fun NY Art Educator/Mixed Media Artist and new resident of Poland. A graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology and School of Visual Arts in NYC with over 20 years’ experience teaching her unique Art Enrichment Program, called “Global Art Adventure”. She brings her knowledge and passion for art and graphic design to each project she creates, giving children a creative learning experience. Basketball Clinic - Spring 2024 - Tuesday Night Knights Basketball LLABBThe Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program aims to improve all aspects of every player’s game.The beginner’s program is geared toward 3rd and 4th grade players and is structured to teach and/or reinforce the fundamentals of basketball with all participants.A heavy focus will be placed on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork as this serves as the foundation of higher basketball development.Basic defensive skills are also introduced here and will include proper on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter.The intermediate level program for our players in 5th grade or higher will still have a heavy focus on shooting, passing, ball handling and footwork, but will expand to include the larger, conceptual ideas of player spacing, player movement and ballmovement that are critical to successful offensive basketball.These are skills that players will need to compete at the middle and high school levels. The defensive skills of on ball stance/posture, basic off ball positioning and closing out on the ball/shooter will be expanded upon here and we will start to introduce the conceptsof “help & recover”, defensive rotations, boxing out & rebounding and transition defense.Specific skills and actions covered will include:- Shooting form- Shooting balance- Engaging hips to produce power in your shot- Shooting footwork and coordination- Developing quickness- Developing explosiveness- Changing speeds- Changing directions- Finishing at the rimWorkouts/sessions will include:- Live ball moves- Ball screen reads vs ball screen coverages- Shooting off screens- Operating in the mid-range- Playing out of triple threat- Driving off the catch- Getting game shots from game spots- Game passing matrix- Ball handling matrixThe goal of the Knight’s LLABB Basketball Skill Training and Player Development Program is to teach players winning basketball in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. COST (Thursday date is included in cost) = $45There will be 2 sessions per week offered for each grade group. You can choose to go to one or both days. Restrooms are located in the lobby area. Athletes will also need to change in the lobby bathrooms if needed. All other rooms and spaces outside the gym are off limits. Children need to be under supervision at all times and are not allowed to wander the halls or other spaces within PCS. We have to request to use the school spaces. Any misuse of school property can result in the Recreation Dept. loosing access to these spaces. We ask that you please bring out what you bring in. Any trash needs to be put in trash receptacles.
