What is Camp Connor?
Poland Summer Recreation at Camp Connor is now in its 2nd year!  Camp Connor is a day camp with approximately 12 acres of land, including a beach front, large field, wooded area, picnic area, playground, peninsula, and buildings.  We also have access to our neighbors basketball court and beachfront for launching our kayaks and canoes.  Camp Connor is located off of route 26, address:  70 Connor Lane.  (Connor Lane is a dirt road, that provides access to Camp Tall Pines and Poland Spring Campground)
Who do we serve?
Boys and girls going into grades 1-8 in the fall of 2019.

DETAILS:

  • Campers can attend one-week, multiple weeks, or the entire summer if you so choose!

  • The majority of our time will be spent alternating through small and large group activities on-site utilizing our recreational facilities; including outdoor life skills, team building, sports and games, arts and crafts, music, canoeing, kayaking, etc...

  • All campers will have the opportunity to swim daily; weather permitting.  Swim instruction will be offered through our program day-to-day with the waterfront director on-site who has the proper certification, training, and experience.

  • Our themes for each week may offer different and specialized activities, which may include on-site guests, age appropriate field trips, and special parties on Friday afternoons; all included in the cost of camp. All campers will have the opportunity to develop connections with same-aged peers, older/younger campers, and our super awesome staff. We want your child to make memories that will last a lifetime here in their backyard!

CAMP FEES:
We increased our prices for this summer, to prepare for the January 1st minimum wage increase and to hire 4 additional staff.  The hiring of more staff will allow us more flexibility in utilizing the water front and providing the necessary staffing to support our anticipated participant numbers.  We are proud to say that our rates are still significantly under the average cost of participating in a waterfront camp.

Description of Theme Weeks
Week 1- June 24-June 28- Tropical Beach Bash
It’s time to celebrate the start of summer! Break out the leis and make our waterfront our own type of tropical paradise. Campers will participate in a variety of games involving swimming, creating a sweet treat for the camp, and living it up on the beach.

Week 2- July 1-July 5- Holiday Hoopla
This week campers will embrace the red, white, & blue, bring home decorations for the 4th of July. We also do Halloween and Christmas themed activities. We will be closed on Thursday, July 4.

Week 3- July 8-July 12- Wild About Animals
Campers will dive in to truly exploring the outdoor life of animals, learn about animals with an on-site guest, and get to experience the wild. Searching for frogs, building a fort, and much more may be part of the activities.

Week 4- July 15- July 19- Treasure Island Challenge
Get ready for our 1st Annual Treasure Island Challenge- in this “Survivor-like” week, campers and staff will compete in a variety of challenges that range from races, to drawing, to trivia, and silly games. Campers will make a t-shirt their teams color and will be a part of a team with campers of all ages. The four teams will earn points throughout the week and the winner will be crowned with the title until next summer.

Week 5- July 22- July 26- Come on Down… It’s Game Show Week!
Campers will play multiple different game shows we all know and love... wheel of fortune, are you smarter than 5th grader?, jeopardy, deal or no deal etc.. and even create their own. With the “all-for-fun” attitude, your camper will come home telling you about how they got to be the next contestant on the Price is Right!

Week 6- July 29- August 2- Score! Sports Galore!
For the physically active and on-the-go campers and many others too, this week will be dedicated to playing as many different sports and games as possible. We will use the variety of our fields and courts to teach and facilitate good sportsmanship for a fun atmosphere that is welcoming for everyone, while our typical daily routine involving arts and crafts, water activities, and more will still go on. On-site guests/coaches will encourage campers to participate and see the skills everyone has to be healthy and happy campers. Grades 5-8 will attend a Portland Sea Dogs Game at Hadlock Field. Grades 1-4 will go on a different field trip.

Week 7- August 5- August 9- Camp Connor’s Got Talent
Now it’s time for campers and staff alike to show off their talents! Practices will occur during this week, with help from on-site guests teaching theater, dance, and singing, to create our own production involving stage crew and a live audience. There will be an emphasis on camp songs and “improv” games this week, and our typical daily activities will occur as well.

Week 8- August 12-August 16- Imaginative Innovations
Campers will use their imagination with a group of peers to create anything they would like and have it on display for the entire camp during our Innovations Fair at the end of the week. From their business plan for their own pizza shop, a proposal for something new at camp, building a robot, developing a new sport, etc… let their imagination take them anywhere and make camp the place they want to play and learn!

Week 9- August 19-August 23- Hooray! Carnival Week!
In the last week, campers will experience their own carnival! From balloon animals, to bounce houses and inflatables, we will have it all to close out the summer. Games and water activities will be involved with the carnival and campers will have a blast playing all of their favorite things. All campers will have a field trip to Funtown in Saco, Maine that will also be a huge way to celebrate the great summer we had.
