Tri Town Knights Cheering
Grades Pre K through 8th
Due to the current pandemic and state guidelines, we will be running our program differently this year.
We will be running our program on Sundays only at the Poland Town Hall.
Unfortunately we do not have space during the week to have weeknight practices.
We will be able to work on skill building and prepare a routine, however there will not be any stunting and we will have limited tumbling.
Once everyone is registered, we will place the cheerleaders in groups mostly by current grade, however in order to manage numbers, we may need to make some adjustments.
Performance: We are hoping to offer a performance for family and friends in the spring time, once we can get outdoors. TBD
Registration Deadline is December 11, 2020
Cost is $50 (Includes a t-shirt and hair bow that cheerleaders will get to keep.
Payment must be received by no later than December 11th and prior to receiving a
t-shirt/hairbow.
There will not be any assessments this season.
Mighty Knights: Grades Prek & K Rising Star Division
Starry Knights: Grade 1 & 2 Rising Star Division
Junior Knights: Grades (2), 3 & 4 Shooting Star Division
Senior Knights: Grades (4), 5 & 6 Shining Star Division
Varsity Knights: Grades (6), 7 & 8 Superstar Division
Dependent on the number of participants we may need to combine levels to make a team or teams. FYI: Cheering is a physically challenging sport which requires lifting other participants, tumbling and constant movement. You may want to consider consulting a physician prior to participation.
General Information:
Who:
Our youth cheering program is a tri-town program for boys/ girls in grades Pre-K - 8 for residents of Mechanic Falls, Minot & Poland.
What:
Our focus is to develop basic motions and dance at each age level. All of our coaches are encouraged to be AACCA certified and CPR/ First aid trained. While our coaches are volunteers; we cannot mandate/ guarantee these certifications.
MYCCA will not be hosting on-site competitions this year. MYCCA is considering a virtual competiton format that does not include stunting. Our Cheer Director and coaches will decide down the road if we are going to compete. The more important thing at this point is keeping our kids active and social.
Practices: Only coaches and cheerleaders will be allowed in the town hall. Practices will be 1-2 hours depending on grade level.
Expectations: We will provide a list of expectations for practicing indoors, i.e. staying home when you do not feel well, etc...
Masks: Coaches and cheerleaders will be expected to wear masks at all times.
Schedule:
Practices:
January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
February 7, 14, 21, 28
March 7, 14, 21, 28
April 4, 11, 18
We do not anticipate a father/daughter ball this winter or a family and friends night in January like usual due to gathering size limits/indoor restrictions due to covid-19. However because we are installing an ice rink, we are looking into having a special night for the cheerleaders on the ice.
Participants are responsible for finding white laced sneakers.
We do not plan to use our regular uniforms this year, instead just the t-shirt we provide and comfortable shorts that cheerleaders will be expected to wear if we perform.
