PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
We are in our 5th year of offering the Poland Parks & Recreation  Tri-Town Cross Country Running Program.

Cross Country is for elementary-aged children (PreK-6th) who will meet once per week for trail running and conditioning on Town of Poland trails.
Runners will also have an opportunity on Thursdays to do a group training run.

Children will learn the basics of Cross Country running and have the opportunity for practices, as well as the opportunity to compete in at least 4 Saturday meets (Meets anticipated date range = September 14th thru October 19th)

We will also seek the help of a few other parents; runners will be supported and encouraged to develop not only as runners but as team mates.

It is helpful to have multiple adults at practice to spread out on the running courses.

COST:  $50.00

Swag T-Shirts:  Support your team! We have swag t-shirts available in navy blue or sport gray with the sport of your choice.  The shirts will have a different design each year for each sport.  Youth sizes will cost $12.00 and Adult sizes will cost $15.00.
Customize each t-shirt for an additional cost. Add your players first or last name on the back for $8
Add your players first name, last name or jersey number to the sleeve for $3. Please be sure to add customization to your cart for EACH t-shirt you order. 
Once ordered and paid for, shirts may take up to two weeks to be completed. All proceeds will go to support our new SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.

UNIFORM:  We will be providing running jersey for all participants, which they get to keep at the end of the season.
We are seeking a sponsor for our Cross Country program:  $500.00
Sponsorship helps us to cover the cost of jerseys
As a Sponsor, you will Receive:

- Your business logo printed on the end-of-season certificates

PRACTICES: 
Monday's 4:30-5:30 beginning on August 19th

Note:  There will be an opportunity again on Thursdays for a group run for those who want to get additional miles in.

Runners 8 & under will be training for 1/2 mile race
Runners age 9-12 will train for 1 or 2 mile race. 
Practices will include some training runs longer than race distances.

Practice Location(s):
The FIRST practice will be held at Ricker Park behind the Poland Ricker Library.
Coaches will be working on a schedule that may include meeting up at the track and other locations to get a variety of running experiences in.
When things get closer, we will send out a schedule of practice locations and meet schedule.

Pre-K & Kindergarten: Note for Pre-K & Kindergarten, we ask that someone in your family be available to run with your kiddo at practices, as the pace of a 4 and 5 year old can vary so much.


We are anticipating hosting and attending a few meets: With some surrounding communities who now have established distance running programs called the Dynamo League (Raymond, Lake Region, Lewiston & Tri-Town). Attending meets are not a requirement. We will also register any of our runners who wish to compete in the Coastal Running League Championships @ Twin Brooks in Cumberland.  

Note: We will not be registering for USATF Cross Country meets-something of course you can do on your own.

Scholarship money is limited.  We will do our best to support your family. Money received from T-shirt sales will help fund this program.

Under the "Register" drop down  menu, select Programs.
Select Cross County 2024

Payment Options
At the end of registration, you will have two options:
OPTION 1 (button on the left): Pay entire amount via credit card online (subject to a 3% processing fee) or
OPTION 2 (button on the right) choose "Print a Pre-Registration Form"  to pay via check or cash. A red message will then pop up saying,
“You will not be registered until payment is received”
Please hit the green “Yes” button to complete the registration. We will then see it on our end to complete your registration. If you don’t hit “Yes”, we will not see that you are attempting to register and you will have to start over.
You will receive an email confirmation when registration is complete.

Payments can be dropped off in our office during office hours, or placed in our drop box. Our drop box is located directly to the left of our office entrance. Please place payment in the door, so it drops to the bottom when you close it.
