Knights Basketball 2025-2026

Hello KNIGHTS basketball families!  We have some exciting news!  Going into this upcoming season, we are merging MHAA (Minot Hebron Athletic Association), Mechanic Falls and Poland basketball programs.  We will also be including PreK together with Kindergarten (something new for Poland families).

What does merging mean?  It means all families will register with us.  It means we will have more players and teams at each level.  For 3rd & 4th grade, 5th & 6th grade we will participate in the Windham League with Windham, Gray New Gloucester, and Raymond. 7th & 8th grade girls and boys who do not try out for middle school ball or do not make the middle school teams can join our recreation program that will play games with Lake Region, Raymond and maybe a few other towns.  Most likely one practice per week.

Our new basketball director is Stevie Ray.  
BIO:
I grew up in Poland and have been involved in sports in the community for the majority of my life, from playing to coaching. I had the opportunity to coach High School Basketball for 10+ years plus numerous years coaching Baseball & Softball. I am honored to have the chance to further impact the community through sports and I look forward to helping build a great youth Basketball program in our 3 towns. 




COACHING:  We are looking for coaches from our all of our towns. Our goal is to have two coaches per team for 3-8 grade levels.  If you are interested in coaching, please reach out by October 10th to Stevie Ray @ his email:  ray.stephen3@gmail.com

High School involvement:  We are also super excited about working with the Poland Regional High School coaches and players.  They will be managing some of our 1st/2nd  Grade program on Saturday mornings.  They will also host some of our older teams at their Varsity games; More TBD once the Varsity schedule is firmed up.  

Registration Opens: September 5th
REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  October 24th

Please make sure to register on time or earlier, if at all possible, in order to make sure we have enough coaches, equipment, uniforms, etc… Anyone who registers late, risks being put on a wait list. Once our teams have been made, we limit the number of players per team in some programs to ensure best opportunities for instruction/ learning and to make sure players receive as much participation as possible.
  
PreK & Kindergarten Basketball (Coed)
This program will consist of skills and drills. Saturday mornings between 8:00am-10:00am.  Exact start time to be determined, once we have our total participant numbers.  A follow up email with go out by November 10th.

Program Dates: January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31;  February 7, 14, 21
Time: 8:00am-10:00am
Location:  Poland Community School and/or Elm St. School
Cost: $35.00  (Players will receive a sportek shirt)

1st & 2nd Grade Instructional Basketball (Coed) 
This program will consist of skills and drills for the first half of the season and games during second half of the second half. We will also look at a possible practice night during the week once we figure out gym schedules/availability.  Exact start time to be determined, once we have our total participant numbers.  A follow up email with go out by November 10th.

Program Dates: January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31;  February 7, 14, 21
Time: 8:00am-10:00am
Location:  Poland Regional High School
Cost: $45.00  (Jerseys will have players last name on back)

Grades 3 & 4 (Boys & Girls) 
COST: $60 (Jerseys will have players last name on back)
PRACTICES: 2 times per week, beginning week of November 10th through February vacation week.
Practice dates/times will be determined once we have coaches and teams lined up.

GAMES: Will most likely take place starting December 13th and go through February 14th.
Game Schedule: TBA  (No play-offs for this level)
February 14:  We will run a skills competition and 3 on 3 games to wrap up our season. More info to follow!

Grades 5 & 6 (Boys & Girls) 
COST: $60  (Jerseys will have players last name on back)
PRACTICES: 2 times per week, beginning week of November 10th through March 7th.
Practice dates/times will be determined once we have coaches and teams lined up. 

GAMES: Will most likely take place starting December 13th through mid-February.  Play-offs will most likely start the last week of February. Game Schedule: TBA
February 21:  We will run a skills competition and 3 on 3 fun tourney for our teams.  More info to follow!

Grades 7 & 8 (Boys & Girls or Coed) 
COST: $50  (Jerseys will have players last name on back)
PRACTICES: 1x per week TBA when coach is assigned
GAMES:  with Lake Region, Raymond and maybe a few other towns. Schedule TBA


TEAM SPONSORS:  We will be looking for Basketball sponsors for the following levels: 
Prek-K:  Business name will go on all of the jerseys:  $200.00
Grades 1 and 2:  Business name on team jerseys:  $200.00
Let us know if you have a child(ren) connected to the program
Grades 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8:  Business name on team jerseys:  $300.00
Let us know if you have a child(ren) connected to the program
End of season certificates:  Sponsor name or logo will go on our certificates.

Sports Recycling:  We have a good size collection of used sneakers ranging in sizes men’s 4 through 11. Just swing by during our business hours 8:00am-4:00pm M-F to check out what we have.

If you are interested in trying out for the Knights travel Basketball program for grades 3-8, please contact Andrew Pelletier.

Knights Travel and Knights recreation Basketball are collaborating together to make sure all children in the community have opportunities to play Basketball.  The intention is if you try out for travel and do not make a team or there are not enough players for a travel team, that you can register with us for Knights recreation Basketball by our deadline. Any questions about Knights travel should go to Andrew Pelletier. 
NOTE: The Windham League does not allow travel players to play on the recreational teams during our season.
