Cross Country


Cross Country 

Cross Country is for elementary-aged children (PreK-6th) who will meet once per week for trail running and conditioning on Town of Poland trails.
Runners will also have an opportunity on Thursdays to do a group training run.

Children will learn the basics of Cross Country running and with the opportunity for practices and at least 4 Saturday meets (Meets anticipated date range = September 16th thru October 21st)

COACHES:
Coaches are volunteers

COST:  $50.00

UNIFORM:  We will be providing running jersey for all participants, which they get to keep at the end of the season.

SPONSORSHIP
We are seeking a sponsor for our Cross Country program:  $300.00
The business sponsor name will be located on the jersey.

PRACTICES: 
TBD 

Note:  There will be an opportunity on Thursdays for a group run for those who want to get additional miles in.

Runners 8 & under will be training for 1/2 mile race
Runners age 9-12 will train for 1 or 2 mile race. 
Practices will include some training runs longer than race distances.

Practice Location(s):
Ricker Park behind the Poland Ricker Library.
Coaches will be working on a schedule that may include meeting up at the track and other locations to get a variety of running experiences in.
When things get closer, we will send out a schedule of practice locations and meet schedule.

Pre-K & Kindergarten: Note for Pre-K & Kindergarten, we ask that someone in your family be available to run with your kiddo at practices, as the pace of a 4 and 5 year old can vary so much.


We are anticipating hosting and attending a few meets: With some surrounding communities who now have established distance running programs called the Dynamo League (Raymond, Lake Region, Lewiston & Tri-Town). Attending meets are not a requirement. We will also register any of our runners who wish to compete in the Coastal Running League Championships @ Twin Brooks in Cumberland.  

Note: We will not be registering for USATF Cross Country meets-something of course you can do on your own.  

FUNDRAISER
Note: * We are no longer offering the prize calendar fundraiser.  We have adjusted the prices accordingly.  
Each player will be entered into a raffle drawing.  Prize TBD.

Scholarship money is limited.  We will do our best to support your family. Money received from T-shirt sales will help fund this program.
