SOCCER

Registration Opens: July

Registration is open for all Poland & Mechanic Falls residents ONLY.
Minot residents need to register with the Minot Hebron Athletic Association 

PROGRAM INFORMATION 
Our program is based on a developmental sport philosophy; concentrating more on learning and less on winning. Our hope is to create a positive environment for our children to learn the game of soccer and spend quality time with friends and family. 

Program is divided into 5 divisions (described below). Participants may be placed in a different division at times due to number of registrants/ability. We discourage moving children up early where each level is designed to develop different skills over a 2 season span. 


SOCCER LEVELS
Grades entering in the Fall

Fun with Soccer = Age 3 (by October of current season year)
Cost: $35
Practice Days: Sundays (times TBD)
Location: PRHS Fields
Practices: 30 minutes learning basic soccer skills and playing fun games
Season will run mid-September to the end of October 
Uses a size 3 soccer ball. T-shirt will be provided
Cleats are not required at this level. Shin guards encouraged

Instructional Soccer = PreK & Kindergarten
Cost: $45
Practice Days: Sundays (times TBD)
Location: PRHS Fields
Practices: Will consist of 45 minutes of learning basic soccer skills 
Games will be on Sundays. Coaches referee games. 
Season will run mid-September through the end of October 
Uses a size 3 soccer ball. Jersey included 
Cleats are not required. Shin guards encouraged. 

Beginner Soccer = Grades 1 & 2
Cost: $60
Practices: 1x per week starting in August
Days and times determined by coach assigned to team
Games: 1x per week on Sundays @ Minot fields
Rules:
- 4-8 minute quarters
- 5 v 5 plus goalkeeper
- Substitutions made at quarters
- No off side calls will be made
- Break time will be determined by coaches
- NO SLIDE TACKLES
- Field Size 25x35 yards
- Ball Size 3
- 6ft goals
- Coaches will referee
Uniform (provided): Sublimated jersey with athlete's last name printed on back & matching socks
Cleats and shin guards required at this level

Intermediate Soccer = Grades 3 & 4
Cost: $70
Practices: 1-2x per week (days/times determined by coach assigned to team)
Games: 1x per week on Sundays at PRHS fields
Rules:
- 4-10 minutes quarters
- 7 v 7 plus goalkeeper
- Substitutions at the whistle
 - Off sides will be called
- 2 minute break @ quarters
- 5 minute break @ half
- NO SLIDE TACKLES
- Field Size = 40x60 yards
- Ball Size 4
- 12ft Goals
- High School/Adult Referees
Uniform (provided): Sublimated Jersey with last name printed on back & matching socks
Cleats and shin guards are required at this level

Junior Level Soccer (Boys & Girls) = Grades 5 & 6
Combined team from Mechanic Falls & Poland residents. If MHAA does not have enough players, will combine with MHAA as well
Cost: $70
Assessment: If we determine we need an assessment, we will hold in late July for those who are available. 
Practices: 2x per week starting in August
Games: 1x per week on Saturdays @ various field locations
Rules:
- (2) 25 minute halves
- 11 v 11 including goal keeper
- Substitutions on the fly
- Off sides will be called
- 5 minute break at half time
- Field size: 50x80 yards
- Ball Size 4
- 18ft-21ft goals
- High School/Adult Referees
Uniform (provided): Sublimated jersey with last name printed on back and matching socks
Cleats and shin guards required at this level

Our Beginner & Intermediate league consists of teams from Poland/Mechanic Falls, Minot/Hebron (MHAA) & St. Dom's. Soccer directors from all 3 organizations work together to organize and plan this program each season. 

Our Junior level teams participate in the Buckfield/Turner league in order to provide a wider variety of teams to play. This level does require some out of town travel for games. 


SOCCER BALLS
We have size 3, 4 & 5 soccer balls available for purchase at our Recreation office. Soccer balls are $10 each. Soccer balls are provided for athlete's to use during practice times, however having their own to practice outside set practice days/times is beneficial for improving skills. 

FUNDRAISER
We no longer offer a calendar fundraiser. We have adjusted registration costs accordingly. Each player will be entered into a raffle drawing to enter a prize (TBD). 

TEAM SPONSORS
We look for team sponsors for each level/team. Sponsor name is printed on the front of each player jersey. If you are interested in sponsoring a team, please reach out to Scott at:

Mechanic Falls town fields - Beginner/Intermediate levels
Elm St. School field - Junior level
Pine Grove Field (Brown Rd., Poland) - Extra space as needed
Nadeau Field (Hardscrabble Rd) - Extra space as needed
Dennis P. Sampson Memorial Field (Lower field behind PCS) - Extra space as needed
Upper Field at PCS - Extra space as needed

SPORTS RECYCLING PROGRAM
Gently worn cleats and shin guards are available to borrow for the sport's season at no cost. We do not hold sizes and sizes are determined based off donations. 
If you would like to donate your gently worn cleats and shin guards, donations can be dropped off to our office during business hours
Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
This allows us to provide sporting equipment to our local families at no cost  :) 

SOCCER CAMP
Each year we will offer a week long Soccer Camp
Times will be in the evening

TO BECOME A REFEREE FOR OUR YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE
Must be 15yo +
Must have Soccer knowledge
Must attend a brief referee training prior to the beginning of the season
Must be available during Saturdays or Sundays for 8 weeks (September-October)
We pay certified referees $40 per game; non-certified $30 per game

HOW TO REGISTER/PAY
Must have a Poland Recreation account created to register
Please visit: www.PolandRec.com
Once logged in to your account, go to the "Register" drop down menu and select programs. 
Soccer will be listed under "Sports"

Payment Options
Once you've added your registrations to your cart for each child, you will be given two options for payment at the end. 
OPTION 1 (button on the left): Pay Online
This option completes your registration and prompts for credit card information to pay online. All credit card transactions are subject to a 3% processing fee. 
OPTION 2 (button on the right): Print a Pre-Registration Form
When you select this option, please make sure to confirm "Yes" on the following page to submit. Once you confirm, we will complete the registration process in the office. 
This allows you to pay in cash or check in our office. 
If you do not hit confirm on the following page, your registration will sit in your cart for 24 hours then disappear. 

NOTE - Upon completing you registration for either option, you will be sent an emailed confirmation. If you do not receive an emailed confirmation, you did not complete the registration properly. Please call our office for assistance.

DROP BOX
We have a secured drop box located directly to the left of our office entrance that can be utilized 24/7. 
Envelopes and pen are provided inside the drop down door. Please place payment in the door, so when you close it will drop down to the bottom compartment.

Cash must be placed inside an envelope with your child's name and sport notated on the envelope. 

Once we submit your payment, you will receive an automatic emailed receipt.
